Russia has failed to gain ground in cyberspace against Ukraine almost six months after its invasion of the country, the head of Britain’s GCHQ intelligence service has said.

Russian forces may be preparing to stage a “provocation” at the Moscow-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Ukraine’s military intelligence has warned. Ukraine’s defence intelligence agency said it was concerned that Russia had plans to stage an incident at the plant on Friday, and had information that staff with Russia’s Rosatom nuclear company had left the site.

At least 17 people were killed and 42 injured in two separate Russian attacks on Kharkiv, according to its regional governor. Two Russian villages were evacuated after a fire broke out at an ammunition depot near the border with Ukraine on Thursday, local authorities said. La Russie organisera une “provocation” dans une centrale nucléaire, selon l’Ukraine

Les services de renseignement militaire ukrainiens ont averti que les forces russes pourraient se préparer à organiser une « provocation » au Centrale nucléaire de Zaporizhzhia ils contrôlent.
L’agence ukrainienne de renseignement de défense s’est dite préoccupée par le fait que la Russie prévoyait d’organiser un incident à l’usine vendredi et disposait d’informations selon lesquelles le personnel de la société nucléaire russe Rosatom avait quitté le site.
Les médias d’État russes avaient déjà accusé l’Ukraine de planifier une “provocation” à l’usine pour coïncider avec la visite du secrétaire général de l’ONU en Ukraine, faisant craindre que l’armée russe ne planifie une “attaque sous fausse bannière”. Lorsqu’António Guterres s’est rendu à Kyiv en avril, Moscou a effectué une frappe aérienne sur la ville.
Mercredi, le ministre ukrainien de l’Intérieur, Denys Monastyrsky, a déclaré que l’Ukraine devait “se préparer à tous les scénarios”, lors d’un exercice pour les secouristes à Zaporizhzhia.
Le secrétaire général de l’Otan, Jens Stoltenberg, a également averti que la saisie de la centrale par la Russie avait “augmenté le risque d’un accident ou d’un incident nucléaire” et a accusé Moscou d’être “imprudente” en utilisant la zone comme plate-forme de préparation pour lancer des attaques d’artillerie contre les forces ukrainiennes.
La Russie a déclaré qu’elle pourrait fermer l’usine, affirmant que les systèmes de soutien de secours avaient été endommagés lors de grèves. Igor Kirillov, le chef de la force de défense radioactive, chimique et biologique, a déclaré que s’il y avait un accident sur le site, les matières radioactives couvriraient la Pologne, l’Allemagne et la Slovénie.

Jeremy Fleming, le responsable du renseignement, a déclaré que les deux pays avaient utilisé leurs cybercapacités dans la guerre en Ukraine. Dans un éditorial de The Economist vendredi, il a écrit :

Fleming a déclaré que la Russie avait déployé le logiciel malveillant WhisperGate pour détruire et défigurer les systèmes gouvernementaux ukrainiens.
Il a également déclaré que la Russie avait déjà utilisé le même manuel sur la Syrie et les Balkans et a déclaré que la désinformation en ligne était un élément majeur de la stratégie russe. Cependant, le GCHQ a été en mesure d’intercepter et de fournir des avertissements à temps, a-t-il déclaré.
Sans entrer dans les détails, Fleming a déclaré que la National Cyber Force du Royaume-Uni pourrait répondre à la Russie en déployant une unité militaire britannique qui utilise des cyber-outils offensifs.

L’Estonie a été frappée par de vastes cyberattaques après avoir retiré un monument de char de l’ère soviétique d’une région dont la population est majoritairement russe, a déclaré son gouvernement.
