Publié le 28 novembre 2025 à 04h25. La crème du rugby néo-zélandais a été mise à l’honneur avec l’annonce des nominations pour les New Zealand Rugby Awards 2025, récompensant les performances exceptionnelles sur les terrains nationaux et internationaux.
- Jorja Miller, étoile montante du rugby féminin, figure parmi les nominées dans deux catégories prestigieuses : Black Ferns Sevens Player of the Year et Black Ferns Player of the Year.
- Ardie Savea, Fabien Hollande, Cam Roigard et Quinn Tupea sont en lice pour le titre de All Blacks Player of the Year.
- Braxton Sorensen-McGee, jeune prodige du rugby, a reçu un triplé de nominations, soulignant son impact grandissant sur la scène néo-zélandaise.
Les nominations, révélées vendredi matin, couvrent un large éventail de catégories, allant des joueurs professionnels aux bénévoles dévoués qui font vivre le rugby en Nouvelle-Zélande. Jorja Miller, qui s’est illustrée sur le circuit SVNS avant de passer au rugby à XV, a déjà remporté le Kelvin R Tremain Memorial Player of the Year l’année dernière, devenant la deuxième plus jeune athlète à recevoir cet honneur, après Jonah Lomu.
Outre Miller, Michaela Brake et Rishi Puri-Lane concourent pour le titre de Black Ferns Sevens Player of the Year. Kaipo Olsen-Baker, Georgia Ponsonby et la jeune Braxton Sorensen-McGee complètent la liste des nominées pour le titre de Black Ferns Player of the Year.
Chez les hommes, la compétition s’annonce féroce pour le titre de All Blacks Player of the Year, avec Ardie Savea, Fabien Hollande, Cam Roigard et Quinn Tupea en lice. Frank Vaenuku, jeune étoile des Nouvelle-Zélande U20, rejoint les vétérans Dylan Collier et Tone Ng Shiu dans la catégorie All Blacks Sevens Player of the Year.
Au niveau des clubs, Braxton Sorensen McGee (Blues) est à nouveau nominée pour le titre de Sky Super Rugby Aupiki Player of the Year, aux côtés de Portia Woodman-Wickliffe (Blues) et Amy du Plessis (Matatu). Will Jordan (Crusaders), Du’Plessis Kirifi (Hurricanes) et Ardie Savea (Moana Pasifika), déjà sacré MVP de la compétition, sont nominés pour le titre de DHL Super Rugby Pacific Player of the Year.
Sorensen-McGee complète son impressionnante série de nominations avec une place dans la catégorie Rugby Player of the Year, aux côtés d’Oli Mathis et Dylan Pledger.
Quinn Tupaea (Ngaati Tiipa, Ngaati Amaru) est en course pour le Tom French Memorial Maori Player of the Year, aux côtés de Kurt Eklund (Ngati Kahu) et Portia Woodman-Wickliffe (Ngapuhi/Ngati Kahu ki Whaingaroa/Ngati Porou).
La région de Canterbury domine la catégorie Adidas National Men’s Team of the Year, avec Canterbury, Crusaders et Mid-Canterbury en lice. Du côté féminin, les Blues, Otago Spirit et Waikato se disputent le titre d’Adidas National Women’s Team of the Year.
Les nominations sont également ouvertes pour les catégories d’entraîneur national masculin et féminin de l’année (ASB) et d’arbitre néo-zélandais de rugby de l’année. Marty Bourke (Canterbury), Mark Brown (Otago) et Rob Penney (Crusaders) sont en compétition pour le titre d’entraîneur masculin, tandis que Matt Direen (Otago), Reuben Samuel (Waikato) et Willie Walker (Blues) sont nominés pour le titre d’entraîneuse féminine. Maggie Cogger-Orr (Auckland), James Doleman (Otago) et Ben O’Keeffe (North Harbour) sont en lice pour le titre d’arbitre de l’année.
